The Medical Advisor will join the UK Medical Affairs team to support the development and implementation of the medical affairs strategy for AbbVie’s Oncology indications. The Medical Advisor will provide scientific and technical leadership to ensure professional and credible relationships with thought leaders across the UK. Provide medical / scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies for the affiliate medical department and commercial plans, as required, and medical / scientific support for medical department activities.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the therapy area and AbbVie products.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with external experts and academic centres.
Identify topics of interest among healthcare professionals and work with collaborative clinical groups to define medical/scientific programs and activities including Advisory Boards where appropriate. 
Provide expert Medical Input within the Brand Team and with all relevant functions.
Execute the Brand Medical Strategy as defined in the medical plan.
Contribute to the development and medical and scientific accuracy of core dossiers generated by the medical department.
Design and implement clinical and real-world research projects within defined standards and budgets, provide the required oversight to manage review and approval of IIS studies, support the affiliate clinical research department in the management of clinical studies, as appropriate.
Deliver training to sales forces and other departments; develop and update relevant training materials ensure all materials are fully compliant with the ABPI Code of Practice.
Support the development, implementation and management of pre-approval access programs.
Screen relevant literature and other information from relevant scientific societies meetings and conferences and develop summaries of the information for use within the Company.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

Advanced degree (e.g. PharmD., MD, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in Medical Affairs within a Pharmaceutical company and experience working within Oncology is preferred.
Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for assigned therapeutic area/product and in medical research in general.
Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
Fluency in written and oral English is highly desirable to facilitate communications between the affiliate medical department, Regional and International Medical Affairs and other AbbVie functional staff.
Strong commitment to compliance with the relevant rules and procedures, and to scientific quality and integrity
Collaborative, team-oriented approach, able to develop and support relationships across an organization as well as with key external stakeholders and the healthcare community at large.
