About the General Electric Company:-

General Electric (GE) is a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Established in 1892 through the merger of Edison General Electric Company and Thomson-Houston Electric Company, GE has become one of the most influential companies in the world. Thomas Edison, one of GE’s founding members, is credited with significant contributions to the development of electric power and lighting.

GE operates in a variety of sectors, including aviation, healthcare, power, renewable energy, digital industry, additive manufacturing, and finance. Historically, the company was known for its diversified portfolio, including appliances, lighting, and media. However, in recent years, GE has refocused on its core industrial sectors and divested from non-core businesses to streamline operations and improve financial stability.

Aviation is one of GE’s largest and most profitable divisions, producing jet engines and providing maintenance services for commercial and military aircraft. GE Healthcare offers medical imaging, monitoring, biomanufacturing, and cell and gene therapy technologies. In the power sector, GE provides equipment and services for power generation from various sources, including gas, steam, nuclear, and renewable energy, while GE Renewable Energy specializes in wind, hydro, and solar power technologies.

The company has faced challenges, including financial difficulties in the late 2010s, leading to significant restructuring efforts under the leadership of CEO Larry Culp. These efforts included selling off GE Capital’s assets and other non-core divisions to reduce debt and refocus on industrial operations.

GE’s commitment to innovation is evident through its investments in research and development, as well as its adoption of digital technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency across its operations. The company’s storied history and ongoing transformation underscore its role as a major player in the global industrial landscape.
