The successful candidate will work as a Project Controls Specialist within the MPLX Project Controls Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist Project Managers working on capital projects in the MPLX G&P Segment. This position will provide support for processing plants, compressor stations, pipeline projects and ROW. The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for setting up, tracking, forecasting, and reporting capital project AFE costs. They will work with Project Managers to accurately forecast project cost monthly and submit monthly accruals. This position collaborates daily with other Project Controls Specialist and Engineering-Project Managers. It also routinely collaborates with other departments within MPLX including BP&A and Fixed Assets. The Project Controls Specialists is responsible for ensuring that all forecasts, accruals, and other tasks are successfully completed based on monthly deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for setting up, tracking, forecasting, and reporting capital project AFE costs.
Recognize and alert Project Managers on cost issues and assist with developing AFE supplements if required.
Work with Project Managers and vendors to accurately forecast project cost on a monthly basis.
Take the lead on AFE preparation and submission to ensure budget, asset and expenditure information is correct.
Submit monthly accruals and work in progress comments to our Fixed Assets group.
Actively involved in the project life cycle process from inception through startup and commissioning.
Continuously work to build strong relationships and rapport with various departments including Accounting, Procurement, Land, Business Development, Engineering and others to ensure all costs are being captured and reported accurately.
Leads efforts around accounts payable and invoicing functions.
Assist in developing project schedules and updates as changes occur.
Assist in getting materials and equipment bid, tabulated, and purchased.
Responsible for generating purchase or work orders as requested by Project Managers.
Facilitates Master Services Agreement process for new contractors.
Work with the Project Managers to create bid packages for construction projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
2-3 years of experience in natural gas industry in an accounting, cost management or contract’s role.
