WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As our NIKE Sport Research Lab (NSRL) Senior Researcher, you will be responsible for executing research projects (both applied and basic research) aimed at delivering validated performance insights that will lead to technologically innovative footwear, apparel and equipment that are globally relevant.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work closely with Lead and Principal Researchers to create research visions and plans. You will act as a creative scientist – questioning methods, results, and applications – and think outside normal paradigms to find creative ways around barriers to enhancing performance or preventing injury.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will participate in the development of new tools, methods and procedures that will streamline data acquisition. In addition, you will become a resident expert for all biomechanical research tools used by the Nike Sport Research Lab staff. You will be a member of the Product Creation Process, interacting with Lead Researchers, Principal Researchers, and Product Innovators in all phases of research to provide a holistic evaluation of innovation concepts. You will demonstrate Nike’s commitment to product performance research through attendance at scientific meetings, clinics, and conferences.

WHAT YOU BRING

M.Sc. in Biomechanics, or related field including Engineering, Kinesiology, Human Factors, or Ergonomics or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
Possess a detailed understanding of anatomy, biomechanical principles, experimental designs, statistical procedures, sport performance, and injury mechanisms
Experience working with human test subjects
Significant Python experience writing programs to analyze biomechanical data is strongly preferred
Experience using in-lab and field-based biomechanical data collection tools with human test participants
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated experience being a creative scientist – ability to apply scientific insights to performance product, and ability to problem solve are key
Good communication, people, and collaboration skills
Bias toward action and resilience in the face of challenges
Exposure to industry research experience preferred
Knowledge of footwear and equipment product creation processes is a plus.
