Reporting directly to the Head of HR , the incumbent will be responsible for providing effective support and guidance to both employees and managers related to HR policies and practices. They will be responsible for supporting and coordinating a wide variety of site HR activities including resourcing, onboarding, coaching, employee development, performance management, employee relations, policy/procedure interpretation, organizational design/change and recognition. The Incumbent will also liaise with and provide support to colleagues within the Group People Operations function as well as interacting with local divisional HR Team and from other global sites.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities –

Provide on-the-ground support for employment issues and implementation of HR policies and practices as well as manage and consult on employee and labour relations.
Conduct training and development programs; provide compensation/staffing coaching services to managers.
Responsible for the development and implementation of relevant HR processes considering existing corporate policies and current legislation.
Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement in efficiency of department and services performed.
Ownership of projects on an ad-hoc basis such as annual performance reviews and engagement surveys.
Liaise with People Operations colleagues to ensure activities are completed and data integrity is maintained within the HR master data system.
Ensure that all working policies are in place, up to date and reviewed on an annual basis or as legislation dictates.
Ensure HR compliance to Smiths quality standards and adherence to division/group policies/procedures/ code of ethics
Act as key support to the site leadership team on employee grievances and being solution oriented
Collaborate with the India HR team on cross divisional topics on an ad hoc basis
Collaborate, support and/or manage with the Divisional/Group HR teams on global projects and programmes.
Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure that all issues are resolved while providing excellent customer service.
Resolve ongoing, complex Human Resources related issues and track employee data utilizing systems and tools.
Manage relevant employee relations issues to a successful conclusion and act as an escalation point for more complex issues across where applicable.
Support consultation or communication on people related issues such as organizational or legislative changes.
Conduct local training or coaching sessions to employees and/or managers to help support HR initiatives related to employment policies, employee engagement, health and wellness benefits, rewards and recognition programs, performance management, and career development.
Liaise with the People Operations team to ensure that employee or organizational transactional activities are completed efficiently and accurately within the HR master data system.

The Individual

Skills & Experience –

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, or recognised qualification/certification in Human Resources desirable.
Previous experience of working within a matrix environment is an advantage
Working knowledge of India employment legislation.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and HR management systems.
Proactive approach and proven experience in continuous improvement and process ownership.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities with pace and accuracy
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to plan own work within agreed deadlines, meeting objectives in specified timeframe
Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
Ability to effectively communicate and coach employees and managers on HR policies and practices.
Ability to provide functional guidance and support to line/operations management with respect to sensitive issues or decisions.
Excellent interpersonal skills with an approachable and trustworthy nature
