We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our established Mechanical Engineering Team based at our head office at Lingley Mere in Warrington (hybrid home/office working is applicable to this role).
You will report to a Senior Engineer and be responsible for delivery of technical related activities within Engineering and potentially across the organisation.
Working closely and maintaining strong relationships with other engineering disciplines, internal clients and external partners, you will provide mechanical engineering support including design and technical advice to all areas of UU. The main areas of focus are likely to be capital projects, operational support and studies & investigations.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of projects, studies and investigations throughout United Utilities including data gathering and analysis, notional and outline design, preparation and or review of documents, drawings and specifications, review of proposals by others and providing advice and responses to other team members and or UU partner organisations.
Bioresources, Sludge or Gas experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Further opportunities exist in the Mechanical Engineering team to develop & work on Mechanical Engineering Design, Area Deployed Engineering (operational support) and Technical Specialist support across Water, Wastewater & Bioresources.

Job Accountabilities
Producing and reviewing appropriate design requirements documents to meet United Utilities’ objectives.
Converting operational and strategic requirements into deliverable engineering solutions.
Collaborating with, and maintaining strong relationships across engineering, the wider UU business, and external partners.
Ownership of standards relating to mechanical assets.
Ensuring that all activities undertaken and engineering outputs provided are in accordance with legislation, accepted best practice, and relevant technical standards.
To maintain and develop discipline engineering expertise and act as Subject Matter Expert within areas of competence.
Compliance with health and safety requirements throughout the whole asset/project lifecycle.

Knowledge and Skills
IMechE accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng).
Masters-level engineering degree is preferred, but not essential.
Working towards Chartered Engineer registration and member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (or equivalent status).
Strong technical competence and leadership skills, coupled with high levels of emotional intelligence.
Experience in delivering capital and strategic projects, providing operational support in the water industry or other sectors for optimum TOTEX.
Excellent understanding of UK and International technical legislation, standards, best practice, health & safety requirements etc.
Familiarity with assets associated with water and wastewater treatment.
Full driving licence.
