The role
To lead and inspire a delivery focussed team of operations and maintenance employees across a number of wholesale transportation and delivery assets. To performance manage their team and the assets within their Drainage areas to ensure a safe, efficient and compliant outcome.

Key accountabilities
Responsible for a substantial operational area and ensure that it achieves regulatory, health and safety, financial, customer and performance targets.
Responsible for improving maintenance and operational activities on Wastewater Network pumping stations and ancillaries within a specified number of Drainage Areas.
Responsible for driving productivity; quality of work and efficiency of the assets and workforce providing frontier customer service and safe practices of work
To lead, develop and performance manage a delivery team, comprising of Network Asset Controllers; Network Maintainer Controllers and Network Asset Engineers; which provide an essential service within defined geographical areas.
Responsible for providing higher level technical support to the field teams as well as implementing any strategy changes that may affect our customer facing staff.
Implement a proactive approach to handling customer problems to ensure we meet all of our guaranteed service standards and customer commitments and ensure that we deliver high quality 24/7 customer service whilst achieving our performance outputs.

Responsible for supporting the Drainage Area Manager in the overall management of the assets within multiple Drainage Areas whilst also having direct line responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of Network Assets in a geographical area.
Responsible for influencing decisions affecting the operation and performance of the Network ME & I assets.
Resource policies and procedures, including regular contact, one to one meetings, performance reviews etc.
Responsible for identifying training needs and/or skills gaps and working towards resolving these
Accountable for security and emergency requirements at the sites for which they are responsible
As part of the Wholesale management team, contribute to the day-to-day leadership of the area including sharing best practice, implementing improvements plans and leading on activities identified through the business plan development

Skills & experience
Experienced professional with a proven track record.
Wastewater Network technical knowledge will be required to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance is achieved.
Very high level of understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding wastewater operations as well as possessing a good understanding of the wider business issues across all levels of the company’s operations.
A strong customer focus is key to the role.
Strong leadership and communications skills will be essential to motivate, performance manage and develop a large team of people to achieve their best performance.
High levels of managerial ability will be needed in order to ensure the delivery of financial plans, key performance targets and regulatory compliance.
Direct reports to the role holder will operate on a 7am-7pm, 7 day shift pattern. The role holder will need to possess good organisational, planning and time management skills in order to lead the team successfully.
Well-developed analytical skills and an ability to identify; develop and implement solutions to a wide range of financial, technical and managerial problems.
Sound financial skills are required to ensure the delivery of financial plans and the continued motivation of and development of a team of people.
There is a need for a high degree of resilience to cope with the daily demands on time and resources.
